SACRAMENTO 2019

CURTIS PARK INFILL

Client: Sacramento Urban Works
Contractor: Master Building Solutions
Energy Consultant: Beyond Efficiency
Completion: 2019
Photos: Grounded City Real Estate and Ellis Architects

This project includes a new two-story single-family residence on Castro Way and two three-story townhomes on River Cats Alley. The design of all three homes were driven by a goal to meet the Living Building Challenge Net Positive Energy Petal. To meet this goal, both passive and active means of lowering the buildings’ energy consumption were used and the roof areas were designed to maximize solar panels. The homes are

all-electric, with oversized solar arrays with Tesla Powerwall battery storage units that offset energy fluctuations and help charge electric vehicles. The front home was designed to fit into the scale of the existing neighborhood while allowing for the sun to reach the townhomes to the north.
