Located in East Sacramento, this design goals for this home expansion was to create more space for a growing family while preserving parts of the home that had sentimental value. The final product is an updated home that fits nicely within its context in the neighborhood and improves the day-to-day lives for the family. The second story includes two children’s rooms, laundry, and a family room that opens to a south-facing outdoor covered terrace overlooking the renovated backyard and new pool. The ground floor master suite was expanded and included incorporation of livable design elements for aging-in-place. The project scope included full interior design services, from selections of interior finishes, to procurement and reupholstering existing furniture. Other improvements to the home including expanding the front porch for more usability, replacing all the existing windows with aluminum clad wood windows, and replacing the existing stucco finish with fiber cement siding for a cohesive look with the new addition.
