WOODLAND HISTORIC ADAPTIVE REUSE

Originally one of the first automobile dealership buildings in downtown Woodland, the Meier Automobile Building is a historic structure in significant disrepair. Driven by our client’s vision of revitalizing the historic district in Woodland, Ellis Architects developed a design that maintains key architectural elements of the original building, while providing new retail uses. The design incorporates two new restaurants within the original showroom space along the street frontage – one formal and one casual. In the location of the former service warehouse, the roof is removed to create an outdoor courtyard for events and outdoor dining. The existing perimeter concrete walls are maintained and incorporate a wine bar at the entrance to the courtyard as a showcase for local wineries. The design also includes a second story pavilion for private entertaining and access to a roof top garden.
